Though there are also other organisations and clubs on the island, there is still not enough opportunities for the number of children that wish to take advantage of the unique environment Jersey has to offer sailors.
The Club relies on volunteers to run its courses and maintain its boats and also partners with The Department of Education, Sport and Culture to get more children on the water.
However, there is considerable potential to build on these activities and provide more opportunities for the young. The purpose of the Royal Channel Islands Charitable Sailing Trust is to support the sailors of tomorrow by providing children (“Cadets”) with equipment, facilities, training, scholarships and assistance to attend competitions. By raising funds that can be ring-fenced for these activities, the Club hopes that many more children will be able to get on the water affordably with all of the sporting, team building and leadership benefits that sailing has to offer.
